Tom Burgess will play his final game for the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Friday night, marking the end of an era for the Burgess family in the world of Rugby League.
The Burgess name will forever be synonymous with the club, even after the last of the band of brothers hangs up his boots.
According to reports from news.com.au, Tom's departure will close the chapter on a remarkable 14-year era for the Burgess clan at South Sydney.
It all began back in 2010 when Sam Burgess arrived in Australia and made a name for himself in the NRL.
Since then, George, Luke, and Tom have all donned the iconic cardinal and myrtle jersey with pride.
While Sam may have had the most illustrious career, earning a spot in the NRL Hall of Fame, and George may have scored a memorable try in the 2014 grand final, it's Tom who will leave his mark as the club's second-most capped player before heading to the English Super League next season.
Despite falling just one game short of the coveted 250-game milestone, Tom reflects on a career that has exceeded his expectations.
He originally signed a humble 12-month contract, unsure of what the future held.
Through hard work and dedication, he managed to carve out a successful career in the tough world of Rugby League.
"I had to fight for every opportunity," Tom admitted.
"Living with Sam when I first arrived provided me with the guidance and motivation to push myself to new heights.
It's been a tough and rewarding journey, one that I never imagined would last this long.
But as they say, hard work pays off in the end."
As Tom prepares for his final game in the cardinal and myrtle, fans and teammates alike will bid farewell to a true legend of the game.
Through triumphs and setbacks, the Burgess name will forever hold a special place in the rich history of South Sydney Rugby League.
