Robert Toia, a rookie from the Sydney Roosters, initially aimed to debut in the NRL this season but after playing a pivotal role in Queensland's historic Origin series win, he now aspires for a long-term career in the Origin arena.

According to nrl.com.au, Toia, who had only played 10 NRL games prior, was selected by Maroons coach Billy Slater to face his idol, Latrell Mitchell, in the series opener.

His performance in the series decider showcased his potential; he effectively limited Mitchell's influence on the game while also achieving four tackle breaks - the equal second highest of the match - during 18 runs that totaled 154 meters.
