Wests Tigers forward Sarah Togatuki has been handed a Grade 2 Dangerous Contact charge for a hip-drop tackle on Roosters player Corban Baxter.
The incident occurred mid-way into the second half of the Round 6 NRLW match at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.
As a result, Togatuki was sent to the sin-bin for her actions.
In response to the charge, Togatuki has entered an early guilty plea and will serve a one-match suspension.
Unfortunately, this means she will miss the upcoming game against the Titans on the Gold Coast this weekend.
The hip-drop tackle has long been considered a dangerous move in Rugby League, as it involves a player lifting their leg and dropping their hip onto their opponent's body.
This can result in serious injury, particularly to the neck and spine.
The NRL takes player safety very seriously, and any actions deemed to be dangerous or reckless can result in charges and subsequent suspensions.
The grading system is used to determine the severity of the offense, with Grade 2 being a significant charge.
Togatuki's suspension will not only impact her personally but also the Wests Tigers team, as they will be without one of their key forwards for the upcoming match.
The team will need to work together to fill the gap left by Togatuki's absence and maintain their performance on the field.
It is important for players to be aware of the rules and regulations surrounding dangerous tackles and to prioritize the safety of their opponents.
Rugby League is a physical and intense sport, but player welfare should always be the top priority.
