The Gold Coast Titans have made a significant addition to their coaching staff ahead of the 2024 pre-season, as Michael Monaghan is set to join as an NRL assistant coach.
This move was reported by the official Titans website, titans.com.au.
Monaghan will be working alongside the newly appointed head coach, Des Hasler, as well as other NRL assistants Brett White, Jim Lenihan, and transition coach Brad Davis.
Monaghan has prior coaching experience, having worked alongside Hasler at the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles from 2018 to 2022.
He has also had stints at the Catalans Dragons in the Super League and most recently served as the Newcastle Knights NSW Cup head coach.
Prior to his coaching career, Monaghan enjoyed a successful playing career, appearing in 293 first-grade games over 14 years.
He played for the Canberra Raiders, the Sea Eagles, and the Warrington Wolves in the Super League.
The Titans' general manager of football, Anthony Laffranchi, expressed his excitement about the signing, stating that Monaghan's addition would contribute to the learning environment that Hasler is creating within the team.
With a beefed-up coaching staff, the Titans are gearing up for a successful 2024 season.
