Tigers roar less as stars shift into the night

Fresh blow for Wests Tigers as 'popular' figure set to follow Lachie Galvin and leave NRL club

The Wests Tigers are facing further turmoil, with reports indicating that team manager Billy Callaway is set to leave the club, following the departure announcement of Lachie Galvin.

The club's board recently decided to allow Galvin to leave before the June 30 deadline if he can secure a new deal.

The Tigers are seeking either a player in exchange for Galvin or a $170,000 transfer fee.

According to Wide World of Sports columnist 'The Mole', Callaway's impending departure was shared on social media, though he did not provide specific reasons, simply stating, "It's complicated." Callaway's LinkedIn still lists him as the 'NRL Team Manager at Wests Tigers Rugby League Football Pty Ltd'.

He joined the Tigers in 2018, initially working as a coaching and development manager before assuming roles as Football Operations Assistant and Facilities Manager.

In 2021, he was promoted to team manager under then-coach Michael Maguire.

He was recognized as 'Club Person of the Year' at the team's awards night in 2020 and is known to be a popular figure within the club.

Galvin's situation has added to the club's instability.

He turned down a contract extension earlier in the year expressing his desire to explore options in the open market.

These developments come as the Tigers grapple with securing talent and dealing with personnel changes within their organization.
