The Brisbane Tigers are heading to Sydney for grand final day with the aim of becoming the first Queensland team to win the NRL State Championship in seven years.

However, they will need the help of the Melbourne Storm to achieve this feat.

According to the official website of the Melbourne Storm, the team is gathering together as the Tigers hunt for more grand final history.

The Tigers caused an upset in this year's Hostplus Cup grand final by defeating the perennial finals powerhouse, Burleigh Bears.

Now, they will face the New South Wales Cup winners, South Sydney Rabbitohs, in the upcoming match on Sunday.

In the past, Queensland teams were successful in the NRL State Championships, with the Northern Pride and Ipswich Jets winning in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

However, since then, New South Wales teams have dominated the competition.

Halfback Jonah Pezet, who is contracted to the Melbourne Storm, was a late addition to the Tigers' grand final side due to a hamstring injury.

Despite a season filled with ups and downs, Pezet played a crucial role in guiding his team to a much-needed victory.

The Tigers will rely on the support and expertise of the Melbourne Storm to secure their win and bring the NRL State Championship title back to Queensland.
