The Wests Tigers have announced Shaun Mielekamp as their new general manager of football.

Mielekamp takes over from Matthew Betsey, who recently stepped down from the position at the joint-venture club.

Currently, Mielekamp serves as the general manager of community, foundation, and affiliates at the Tigers. He will now shift into his new role, which encompasses overseeing men's pathways and recruitment, as well as the NRL program. He is expected to collaborate closely with head coach Benji Marshall as the club focuses on its rebuilding efforts.

Since joining the Tigers in early 2024, Mielekamp has an established background, having previously spent nine years as CEO of the Central Coast Mariners in the A-League. He has also held roles at the Penrith Panthers and South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Tigers CEO Shane Richardson praised Mielekamp, describing him as a "fantastic administrator."

"Shaun's a fantastic administrator who has already made a tremendous impact in his 18-months here at the Club," Richardson said.

"His role at the Mariners oversaw all elements of their football department, and he was able to bring that club a tremendous amount of success, which is quite exceptional given the constraints he was required to work within."
