In a move that has rugby league fans buzzing, former Parramatta Eels Top 30 member Tevita Taumoepenu has penned a deal with a new club to keep his footy dreams alive.
While he didn't get a shot at the big league in the NRL, Taumoepenu showed plenty of promise in the Eels' ranks before making a mid-season switch to the South Sydney Rabbitohs reserve-grade team.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, the hard-working front-rower will lace up his boots in the NSW Cup for 2025, trading in his Rabbitohs jersey for the blue and white of the Newtown Jets - a feeder club for the Cronulla Sharks.
Hailing from the Maroubra Lions and a former teammate of Peter Mamouzelos, Taumoepenu is a no-nonsense player in the forward pack who understands the importance of doing the dirty work week in and week out.
With a solid record of 49 NSW Cup appearances under his belt over the past four seasons, the gritty forward is eyeing that elusive 50-game milestone as he embarks on this new chapter in his rugby league journey.
