The Broncos are showing strong support for young halfback Tom Duffy, who may need to step in for Adam Reynolds.
As they prepare to face North Queensland on Friday, Jesse Arthars is set to take over fullback duties in the absence of Reece Walsh.
On Tuesday, Reynolds was still hopeful of playing despite dealing with an adductor issue, as he was named in the No.7 jersey.
He conducted a groin test with a trainer before the training session, holding out hope for his recovery.
Throughout the week, he will monitor his injury's progress before making any final decisions.
Duffy, at just 22 and a former player for the Cowboys, is mentally preparing to partner with Ezra Mam if Reynolds cannot play.
Arthars has previously made a seamless transition from wing to fullback, stepping in after Walsh suffered a facial fracture during Saturday's 26-12 victory over Gold Coast.
Having played alongside Duffy in Queensland Cup at Souths Logan, Arthars expressed confidence in his readiness.
"I have been playing Cup with Duff. If he does get a shot it is going to be awesome for him," Arthars shared.
He praised Duffy's skill set: "He is just a very good organiser, very vocal and good at steering the team around. If Reyno is not healthy then that is something Duffy can easily fill in and do."
While Walsh is undoubtedly a star of the game, Arthars reassured that he will not try to imitate his playing style.
