Te Maire Martin Decides Future in NRL

Te Maire Martin, a prominent free agent for the upcoming 2026 NRL season, has made a decision regarding his playing future as he aims for more game time.

The New Zealand Warriors playmaker has mostly been on the periphery of the first-grade team this season following the retirement of Shaun Johnson, frequently finding himself on the interchange bench instead of in the starting halves.

Despite being linked to various teams both in the NRL and internationally-particularly noted back in June-Martin has opted to sign a one-year extension with the New Zealand Warriors for the next season.

"Te Maire has given us so many options this season with his ability to fill so many positions," said Warriors head coach Andrew Webster. "At one time or another he has been used in most positions when we've lost players through injury. Above all he brings a fantastic club-first attitude and truly epitomises the next man up mentality."
