Taumalolo struggles as Cowboys regret 10-year deal

Broncos legend Darren Lockyer made a subtle dig at the Newcastle Knights for signing Dylan Brown to a 10-year deal, comparing it to Jason Taumalolo's contract with the Cowboys.

Taumalolo, who signed a 10-year deal in 2017, has struggled with injuries and has not performed at his best in recent years.

Lockyer expressed concerns about the risks of long contracts, especially for battle-hardened forwards like Taumalolo.

He also raised doubts about Brown's ability to lead his team despite signing the biggest deal in NRL history with the Knights.

Lockyer's comments came after Brown's disappointing performance for the Eels, with many questioning the wisdom of locking him in for a decade when he has yet to prove his worth as a playmaker.

"It just highlights the risks with a 10-year deal," Lockyer said on QLDER.

The backlash against Brown's deal underscores the potential pitfalls of committing to long contracts for players who have yet to fully establish themselves in their positions.
