A jaw-dropping NRL club down under is rumored to be eyeing up Tigers stalwart John Bateman, as uncertainty looms over his future at the merger club.

The Sea Eagles are said to have their sights set on the Englishman, with whispers swirling about a possible move.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the bigwigs at Manly are mulling over a formal approach for the 31-year-old, who still has two years left on his contract with the Tigers.

But it seems the club honchos are open to the idea of letting him spread his wings elsewhere.

Bateman, who made a mid-season exit from the Tigers last year, wrapped up his 2024 season tearing up the Super League with the Warrington Wolves.

Reportedly pocketing a cool $650,000 per season, the seasoned backrower is keen to make a comeback in the NRL come 2025, with the Sea Eagles potentially throwing him a much-needed lifeline.

It's a classic case of a seasoned player seeking a fresh start in the big leagues, and only time will tell if this shock bid comes to fruition.
