Sydney Roosters' Toia seeks Origin payback against Best

Roosters' Mark Nawaqanitawase against the Dolphins.

Bradman Best has built a reputation for high-pressure performances, scoring a hat-trick on his State of Origin debut, producing a powerful match-winner in the 2024 decider and starring again this year.

He has also made linebreaks for Newcastle in the finals against the Warriors and Penrith. Now he faces Sydney Roosters centre Robert Toia in Sunday's NRL grand final.

Best got the better of Toia in their only Origin meeting this season, breaking six tackles and scoring a contentious runaway try that proved pivotal for NSW.

"I was a bit bummed he only played one game and got one over me. I want to get him back against in the GF," Toia said.

Toia praised Best's power, speed, agility and fend, calling him a gun with many tools.

Best said he enjoys high-stakes contests, where players discover who they are and can silence doubters.

He expects a tough challenge from Toia and Roosters winger Mark Nawaqanitawase, alongside his own wing partner Greg Marzhew.

"It excites me. It's a great challenge," Best said. "(Rob) has been killing it all year. So I'll have my work cut out for me."

He described Toia as powerful, strong, fast and athletic, adding: "With him and Marky Mark. It's a great challenge for me and Greggy."
