The Roosters are discussing a short-term return for Joseph Manu, who is playing for French club Racing 92.

His contract ends in June 2027, and he could join Sydney for about three months during the NRL season's second half.

The expected deal is worth around $300,000, while the NRL salary cap auditor values him at $1.2 million for a full season.

Manu, 29, is earning $1.4 million a season in France. He previously considered joining the New Zealand Warriors, but Racing 92 was concerned he could be injured during the Top 14 off-season.

Separately, Code Sports reports the Roosters have ruled out swapping Lindsay Collins or Nat Butcher for Titans forward Cooper Bai.

The Titans confirmed Bai will leave after the 2027 season as he considers options for 2028 and beyond. Reports said the club would seek a player swap if he moved to the Roosters or Storm.

The Titans were reportedly interested in Collins or Butcher from Sydney, or Alec Macdonald or Trent Loiero from Melbourne. Collins and Butcher are off contract after 2027, and the Roosters would prefer their veteran forwards to finish their careers at the club.
