Mark Nawaqanitawase ended his Sydney Roosters career with 47 tries in 47 games, including two in their 19-18 grand final win over Newcastle.
The 26-year-old is heading back to rugby in Japan, having previously represented the Wallabies and Australia in rugby sevens.
Roosters coach Trent Robinson said Nawaqanitawase's influence was exceptional, recalling Brett Morris's memorable 2019 season and saying he hoped the winger would inspire a new generation.
"Mark has done things from the wing in touching the ball in so many different types and styles, I hope he has created another generation of those types of players."
Nawaqanitawase scored just before halftime with a soccered ball after the Roosters had fallen 12-0 behind, despite dominating the statistics.
His second try came in the corner after a left-foot step and an acrobatic, precise finish.
Robinson said Nawaqanitawase brought energy and belief whenever he received the ball, including when carrying it out of the backfield.
He gained 237 metres from 26 runs in the final and missed only one tackle across four finals appearances, showing improvement in an area where he had once struggled.
Robinson said the player's adventurous nature meant he would travel between codes, adding: "Mark is a bit of an adventurer so he is always going to travel and play in those different codes but I wouldn't be surprised if we see him back one day.
I feel like he has made a big difference to us and we have made a big difference in him."
