Spencer Leniu spoke as though the Roosters' 19-18 win over Newcastle on Sunday would be his final game for the club.
The 26-year-old has a year remaining on his contract but is set to join Parramatta.
He told coach Trent Robinson, "I was packing my boots and my pompoms", acknowledging the match was most likely his last as a Rooster.
Leniu made a major impact from the bench in the victory, which secured his fourth premiership title.
He called the latest win "a bit more special" than his three previous titles with Penrith, after a difficult three-year spell at the Roosters.
That period included the racism row involving Brisbane's Ezra Mam at the start of 2024.
His family packed away his three earlier premiership rings within minutes of him earning the fourth.
At the presentation, Leniu displayed all four rings and spoke warmly about the Roosters and proudly about his achievements.
