In an epic display of loyalty and dedication, the Sydney Roosters have honored 19 individuals with Life Memberships at their 2025 Annual General Meeting.
This prestigious event, held at Allianz Stadium, saw Roosters Chairman Nick Politis grace the recipients with this esteemed accolade.
Among the deserving awardees were Johnny Mayes, affectionately known as Rooster number 586, and the hardworking Club Administer, Brian Canavan.
Mayes, a product of Bondi United, epitomized the spirit of the Roosters during his ten-season stint with the Club from 1967 to 1977.
His remarkable record of 211 grade games, including 110 first-grade appearances, solidified his status as a true legend of the game.
Notably, Mayes etched his name in Rugby League history books as the first player to secure three successive premierships at multiple clubs, a feat that remains unmatched to this day.
His memorable contributions as a two-time premiership-winning half back in 1974 and 1975 will forever be etched in the annals of Roosters folklore.
As the posthumous Life Memberships were bestowed upon the deserving recipients' family members and loved ones, the spirit of camaraderie and respect permeated through the Sydney Roosters Season Launch.
Truly, it was a momentous occasion where the past, present, and future of the Roosters Club converged in a beautiful display of heritage and legacy.
