Sydney Roosters' Grand Final Means More

NRL Preliminary Final – Dolphins v Roosters

A field goal from Daly Cherry-Evans would be the perfect finish for one Sydney Roosters supporter ahead of the 2026 NRL Grand Final on October 4.

The fan first fell for the club as a six-year-old in 2002, after the Roosters defeated the Warriors in the grand final.

Since then, the Roosters have made seven grand finals, winning four and losing three, and are now back on the big stage.

Cherry-Evans joined before the 2026 season, with the aim of helping the historic club win premierships.

After early media criticism, the team found form by Round 18, but a poor finish left them fourth and facing fears of a straight-sets exit.

Cherry-Evans, James Tedesco and Sam Walker took much of the blame as the side struggled to reconnect.

The Roosters matched the Panthers for 70 minutes in the first finals week, then overwhelmed the Sharks to reach a preliminary final against the Dolphins.

The supporter calls the season a highlight among the eight premierships they have witnessed, citing Mark Nawaqanitawase's spectacular tries and Salesi Foketi's rise.

With four high-profile players departing after the season, the supporter says this campaign carried extra significance.

They hope the Roosters can silence critics and prove their recruitment decisions right, with a Cherry-Evans field goal delivering the title as the "Cherry on top."
