Australia was due to announce its World Cup squad on Monday, putting Tarryn Aiken's grand final performance in the selection spotlight.
The Sydney Roosters halfback earned her second Karyn Murphy Medal as her side beat Brisbane 30-6 at Accor Stadium on Sunday, completing an undefeated season.
Aiken missed last year's final with a knee injury, when the Roosters lost to Brisbane, and was also unavailable for Jillaroos selection.
She scored after chasing her own grubber kick, then set up Isabelle Kelly with a short pass from a scrum play.
Later, despite being hit in a tackle, Aiken kicked across the field to create Jayme Fressard's try.
By the 23rd minute, the Roosters led 18-0, with Aiken and halves partner Jocelyn Kelleher controlling the match through their play and kicking.
Coach John Strange praised their partnership: "There's a lot of good halves at other clubs but they're a great combination," he said.
"They have different strengths and today you could see out there how they play, they've been connecting this year."
Strange added: "They'd certainly do the green and gold jersey proud."
Aiken also won the medal in 2024, when the Roosters defeated Cronulla.
After the win, she said, "I'm just so proud of everyone, one hell of a season undefeated, a special mention to Corbs (Corban Baxter) and Mill (Millie Elliott) going out on top,"
She also thanked Brisbane and praised Ali Brigginshaw's career.
