The South Sydney Rabbitohs are set to keep Jayden Sullivan until 2026, following a recent surprise announcement regarding his contract status.
Sullivan had joined the Rabbitohs on a one-year loan for 2025 from the Wests Tigers, where he is under contract until the end of 2027. Initially, Sullivan was expected to return to Concord at the end of the current season, but the Tigers had previously indicated their willingness to let him go.
Once viewed as one of the most promising young halves in rugby league, Sullivan had signed a lucrative deal with the Tigers after failing to establish himself at his former junior club, the St George Illawarra Dragons. His time at the Tigers was challenging, but he found form during a career-best 2025 season with the Rabbitohs, playing 13 games, though his progress was marred by injuries towards the end of the season.
Recent negotiations between the Rabbitohs and Tigers concerning Sullivan's future have resulted in a reported agreement, as shared by The Sydney Morning Herald. This deal means that Sullivan will remain with the Rabbitohs for an additional two years.
In the agreement, it appears that the Tigers will continue to cover a portion of his contract, while Sullivan himself has agreed to a six-figure pay cut, approximating $100,000 annually, to extend his stay with the Rabbitohs.
