Rising star Reece Walsh has opened up about a heartwarming moment with Joseph Suaalii after State of Origin 3, where the NSW player sought him out to make amends.
Describing Suaalii as a "class human being," Walsh appreciated the gesture after the Sydney Roosters player caused him to miss the remainder of Game 1 with a heavy hit.
Despite returning to play in the following matches, Walsh's performance was not up to his usual standard as Queensland ultimately lost their first series since 2021.
Suaalii, on the other hand, faced a four-game suspension and missed out on a spot in the NSW team for Game 3, with coach Michael Maguire opting for Bradman Best instead.
Although not part of the playing 17 for the Origin decider, Suaalii was present at Suncorp Stadium to witness the Blues' 14-4 victory and celebrate with his teammates.
It was during this time that he took the opportunity to approach Walsh and his daughter, Leila, to offer his apology.
The NRL's social media team captured the touching moment as Suaalii and Walsh engaged in a classy exchange, chatting and sharing a hug.
The Roosters player also made sure to have a sweet interaction with Walsh's daughter, showcasing sportsmanship and respect in the rugby league community.
