Melbourne Storm has unveiled its electrifying new Indigenous jersey for 2024, dubbed 'Kerrbooonool', a creation by proud Wiradjuri Woman with Dunghutti Connections, Letitia Smith.
This jersey, aptly named 'Connection', showcases the hand and footprints of all five of the Storm's Indigenous players - Smith, Ammaron (AJ) Gudgeon, Stanley Huen, Matthew Hill, and Gabriel Satrick - with each player's unique markings woven into the fabric.
These imprints are not just a design choice, but a powerful symbol of tradition, identity, and unity, reflecting their tribal origins and ties to the land.
The inclusion of the Yarra River and a meeting circle on the jersey further underscores the sense of community and belonging that defines the Storm and its players.
Letitia Smith expressed her hope that wearing this jersey would instill a sense of pride and connection to their heritage, ancestors, and the broader community in each player, as they take to the field with strength and determination.
