NRL Snakes and Ladders: Storm Slide, Sea Eagles Soar
In a new format for the 2025 NRL season, teams are ranked weekly based on their performances rather than solely following last season's final standings.
While the traditional ladder indicates overall rankings, this new approach highlights team form and momentum throughout the season.
Last season's final order started with Storm in first place, followed by Panthers, Roosters, Sharks, Cowboys, Bulldogs, Sea Eagles, Knights, Raiders, Dolphins, Dragons, Broncos, Warriors, Titans, Eels, Rabbitohs, and Tigers.
The Bulldogs struggled for the second consecutive week, beginning poorly against the Roosters, who quickly established a 14-0 lead.
However, a different approach post-halftime saw the Bulldogs exploit weaknesses in the opposition's defense for two inside tries.
Although they demonstrated resilience, their inability to start strong remains a concern.
The Sharks faced off against favorites Melbourne on a difficult playing surface and initially found themselves in a tough spot after conceding the first try.
However, they rebounded strongly, scoring four tries by halftime to lead 25-12.
Although the Storm attempted a comeback in the second half, the Sharks responded effectively, including a well-executed try by Dan Atkinson, securing a vital win.
Similarly, the Warriors battled the unpredictable Dolphins in Brisbane, where they controlled the match and led 16-0 with ten minutes left.
However, a late lapse allowed the Dolphins to score, showcasing the Warriors' tendency to keep games intense for their supporters.
Canberra, fresh off a challenging week after squandering a 20-0 lead against the Bulldogs, hosted the Titans.
Following an initial setback with an early try conceded, the Raiders regrouped, dominating both in the forwards and backs.
The match culminated in a resounding victory for the Raiders, scoring eight tries and advancing to third place on the NRL ladder and fourth on the snakes and ladders board.
This week's results highlight the dynamic nature of the competition, as teams navigate through ups and downs, altering their standings each week based on performance rather than last season's finish alone.
