The Melbourne Storm have announced that star players Jahrome Hughes and Ryan Papenhuyzen both picked up injuries during the recent match against the Brisbane Broncos, and the club has shared an update on their conditions.

Hughes experienced a setback less than 30 minutes into his return to the field following a previous injury, raising concerns as the team approaches the 2025 NRL Finals.

As he left the field, he was seen clutching his wrist, and his season may be in jeopardy, representing a notable challenge for the Storm, who are striving to enhance their performance this season.

The team confirmed that Hughes has suffered a fractured forearm after being forced to exit in visible discomfort during the first half. He is scheduled to undergo scans later today to assess the injury further.

This incident follows his recovery from a dislocated shoulder sustained over a month ago during a match against the Sydney Roosters.

"I'm not quite sure if it's his wrist or just halfway up the forearm, but I think it's a break without a doubt," commented Storm coach Craig Bellamy after the match.

"He's in plaster already. That wasn't a great idea to put him back in this week, but anyway."
