The Melbourne Storm demonstrated their dominance once again in the preliminary final on Friday night, delivering a disappointing 22 to 14 defeat to the Cronulla Sharks.
Performing at their peak, the Storm made few mistakes, but one of their star forwards found himself facing potential repercussions.
Trent Loiero, the QLD Maroons lock, was charged with a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact for his tackle on Nicho Hynes during the intense match.
However, he has been cleared to participate in the Grand Final, having avoided suspension after receiving a $1000 fine, which could increase to $1500 if he chooses to contest the decision and loses.
Fortunately, Hynes did not sustain any injuries from the tackle.
