Reports are swirling around the Rugby League world that Melbourne Storm and Jason Ryles may be parting ways sooner than expected.

Ryles is set to take the reins as the new coach of the Parramatta Eels in the upcoming off-season, following in the footsteps of Brad Arthur.

While it was initially announced that Ryles would fulfill his coaching coordinator role with the Storm before heading back to New South Wales, talks between him and the Victorian club may expedite his departure.

Trent Barrett will temporarily fill in as caretaker coach for Melbourne until Ryles officially joins the Eels.

The former Australian representative could potentially bid farewell to the Storm this week to fully focus on his new role with Parramatta.

As per the Sydney Morning Herald, discussions between Ryles and Melbourne will take place after the Origin decider, with the possibility of an early exit on the cards.

Stay tuned as the Rugby League world eagerly awaits the outcome of these talks.
