The Canberra Raiders have scored a major coup in the coaching department with the appointment of former Melbourne Storm forward, Chris Lewis.
A seasoned veteran of the game, Lewis was one of the nine players who bid farewell to the Storm at the conclusion of the 2024 season.
Though he may not have featured in any Grand Final showdowns, his contributions to the forward pack over the past five seasons have been invaluable.
Hailing from local football clubs like the Shellharbour Sharks, Thirroul Butchers, and Helensburgh Tigers, Lewis honed his skills before making a mark with the Sunshine Coast Falcons in the QLD Cup.
A late bloomer, he made his NRL debut at the age of 28 and quickly made a name for himself on the field.
Now, Lewis is set to take on the role of NSW Cup coach for the Raiders, joining forces with the likes of Mick Crawley and Justin Giteau under the leadership of head coach Ricky Stuart.
The transition from player to coach has been a smooth one for Lewis, who is relishing the opportunity to impart his knowledge and passion for the game onto the next generation of players.
In true sporting fashion, Lewis expressed his excitement for this new chapter in his career, stating, "I only hung up my boots a few months ago, but I am already loving the transition into coaching.
It's a new challenge, but one that I am ready to tackle head-on." With Lewis on board, the Raiders are gearing up for an action-packed season ahead, where they aim to tackle their rivals head-on and make their mark on the competition.
