In preparation for the impending Game 2 of the State of Origin series, NSW Blues team advisor Craig Bellamy has endorsed Stefano Utoikamanu for the opportunity to replace Mitchell Barnett, who has suffered an ACL rupture.

With the team just one victory away from securing consecutive titles against Queensland, a change is necessary following Barnett's injury.

Currently, the competition for the position is primarily between Utoikamanu from the Melbourne Storm and Keaon Koloamatangi from the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Utoikamanu, who was part of the NSW camp as the 19th man for the series opener, is seen as a frontrunner for the role.

His recent performance against the North Queensland Cowboys further strengthened Bellamy's support for his selection.

"As it stands, Utoikamanu is the favourite to enter the side," following his previous involvement and Bellamy's encouragement.

With the team announcement just two days away, the anticipation builds surrounding Utoikamanu's potential inclusion in the lineup.
