Canberra Star Forward Talks Future Plans
With his contract ending next season, Hudson Young has taken the opportunity to discuss his future publicly.
As new teams like the Perth Bears and PNG Chiefs enter the league and seek star players, the Canberra Raiders are acting swiftly to ensure Young doesn't explore free agency.
In May, it was reported that discussions for a long-term contract were underway, but over a month later, the 27-year-old has shared his thoughts.
"I'm not too sure where my management and the club are at, but I let them take over that," Young remarked in an interview with The Canberra Times.
"Yes, 100 per cent [I want to stay]. What the club have offered me, over the period they've turned me into an Australian player and into a New South Wales player, and I love playing for Ricky every week."
"I'm sure they'll sort all the back-end stuff out."
At present, Young is under a $650,000 yearly contract, which he signed in 2023.
Given his significant progress as a player, his next deal could be substantially more valuable.
As reported by The Canberra Times, Young's agent, Sam Ayoub, visited Canberra last weekend to meet with coach Ricky Stuart and CEO Don Furner to discuss Young's new agreement.
