Wayne Bennett's possible return to the Souths next season has caused a stir, but the Rabbitohs are determined to keep their focus on the upcoming 2024 campaign as they aim to climb up the ladder.
Souths captain Cameron Murray admits that the recent turbulent off-field events have taken a toll on the players, despite their efforts to block out the distractions.
However, with Bennett's return on the horizon, Murray believes the team can stay united and push through adversity.
The Bunnies currently sit at the bottom of the ladder after a disappointing 42-12 loss to Penrith right on the heels of Jason Demetriou's dismissal as coach.
This has been a challenging month for the club, dealing with coaching rumors, a lengthy injury list, and Latrell Mitchell's suspension, which has now come to an end.
"It's been a tough few weeks, but we're not waving the white flag just yet," Murray remarked next to interim coach Ben Hornby after their loss to the premiers.
"We've faced worse challenges before and come out stronger on the other side."
Despite the setbacks, the Souths players are determined to rally together, support each other like true teammates, and create lasting memories on the field.
As they navigate through uncertain times, they are determined to rise above the negativity and prove their critics wrong with a fighting spirit that epitomizes the spirit of Rugby League.
