In a classic tale of grit and determination, Penrith Panthers coach Ivan Cleary has given an update on the condition of back-rower Scott Sorensen ahead of the 2024 NRL Grand Final showdown.
Sorensen, a true warrior of the game, has been sidelined with a hamstring injury but refuses to let it keep him from the battlefield.
Having tasted glory in three previous grand final victories, Sorensen is no stranger to the pressure cooker of finals footy.
After stints with the Cronulla Sharks and Canberra Raiders, where opportunities were scarce, he has found his stride in the Panthers jersey, becoming a linchpin in their quest for victory.
"He's ticking all the boxes at the moment," Cleary affirmed.
"We still have a few training sessions left before the big dance.
We won't rush him back, but we won't count him out either.
It's a waiting game now."
As rugby league fans hold their breath in anticipation, Sorensen remains a wildcard in the Panthers' deck, ready to be unleashed at a moment's notice.
In the game of inches that is NRL finals footy, his presence could be the difference between glory and heartbreak.
Time will tell if this modern-day gladiator will have his chance to etch his name into rugby league folklore once again.
