South Sydney have secured Tallis Duncan on a three-year contract, keeping the talent at the club long-term.
Silverchair, meanwhile, have ruled out performing at Sunday's 2026 NRL Grand Final after Newcastle Knights great Andrew Johns urged the band to reunite.
The group said its members were united in supporting Newcastle, writing: "For the first time in ages, the three of us actually agree wholeheartedly about something. GO KNIGHTS,"
"It's all about the Knights this weekend. We love how footy brings this community together and it's pretty special watching the whole Steel City get behind the boys."
The band thanked people who had asked whether they would play before the match.
"We're too rusty, so sorry, no can do."
Silverchair said it would stay off the stage but support the team from afar.
"We won't be taking the stage, but we'll be supporting as loudly as everyone else and there in spirit."
The statement closed with a message for the Newcastle players: "Wishing the Newy players all the luck in the world this Sunday. UP THE KNIGHTS!!!"
