Sexton's departure looms: Bulldogs barking up the wrong tree

LeagueNews.co | Cooper McEnroe

In NRL news, Toby Sexton is expected to leave the Canterbury Bulldogs at the end of the 2025 season, following the signing of Lachlan Galvin.

Reports from zerotackle.com indicate that while Galvin's move is not yet official, director of football Phil Gould mentioned he hopes to have clarity within 48 hours.

If confirmed, Galvin would integrate into the Bulldogs' halves, though it's uncertain whether he or Matt Burton will take on the fullback role.

For Sexton, who has been exceptional in the first half of the 2025 season, leading the Bulldogs to the top of the table with only two losses, the situation is precarious.

His contract expires at the end of 2025, and the slow progress on negotiations has raised concerns.

Additionally, reports from News Corp suggest that Sexton has attracted interest from rival clubs, indicating his potential departure from the Bulldogs is imminent.
