
Samoan supporters around the world are being encouraged to celebrate safely as Toa Samoa prepares for the IRL Rugby League World Cup 2026.
Rugby League Samoa has named a 23-man squad for the tournament, which takes place in the organisation's 40th anniversary year.
Toa Samoa coach Ben Gardiner said, "One of the great things rugby league does is bring people together,"
Gardiner thanked Samoans worldwide for their support ahead of the team's first World Cup match.
"As we build towards the first World Cup game, we want to thank all Samoans around the world for their ongoing support.
"Your blessings and prayers are welcomed.
"Whether you are in Samoa, elsewhere around the world, taking part in a parade or marching into the ground, we see you and thank you for your love and support.
Gardiner said staff and players hoped to see supporters during the tournament's five weeks.
"the staff and players look forward to seeing the colours, flags and supporters over the coming five weeks.
He urged fans to show support for both the men's and women's teams safely and positively.
"We encourage everyone to celebrate safely and positively, showing the men's and women's teams love and blessings from near and far.
