Sami Sauiluma, a former NRL winger known for his time with the Canberra Raiders and Cronulla Sharks, has secured a new contract that allows him to continue his rugby league career.

Having last played in the NRL in 2015, Sauiluma will now remain active in the QLD Cup reserve-grade competition with the Burleigh Bears for the 2026 season.

At 34 years old, Sauiluma was part of the Queensland Residents side in 2016 and has accumulated over 165 matches in reserve-grade, scoring five tries along the way. This season, he has made a notable impact with 11 appearances, averaging 134 running metres, along with 16 tackle busts and two line-breaks.

A cousin of former NRL centre Tim Simona, Sauiluma had a three-year stint in the NRL from 2013 to 2015, where he played 18 matches and scored five tries before moving to Burleigh.

In addition to Sauiluma's signing, the Burleigh Bears have also welcomed new players, including Luke Burton from Tweed Seagulls, Luke Gale from Wynnum Manly Seagulls, Paul Turner, Ryan Foran from Gold Coast Titans, Sione Hopoate from Wynnum Manly Seagulls, and Will Lewis from Parramatta Eels.
