The Sydney Roosters, South Sydney Rabbitohs, and Wests Tigers have set aside their on-field battles to announce a new event at Allianz Stadium: the Gadhu Gathering.

In a show of unity, the clubs will come together during the second week of the NRL's Indigenous Round for a special three-day festival celebrating rugby league and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

"Gadhu Gathering is like a game-winning try, bringing together six Sydney-based clubs on Dharawal Land," said a spokesperson.

The festival will highlight Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, with cultural performances, entertainment, fan zones, specialty food items, and more to be featured during the event.

The word 'gadhu' holds significance, representing a large body of water in Dharawal, the language spoken by the Aboriginal people of Coastal Sydney.

The Gadhu Gathering embodies the spirit of communities coming together to celebrate their love for rugby league and culture.

The Gujaga Foundation provided language guidance for the event, aiming to promote the revitalization of Dharawal language and culture within the La Perouse Aboriginal community.

Artwork for the Gadhu Gathering, created by Shane Youngberry of the La Perouse Aboriginal community, pays homage to local dreaming stories and symbols.

The piece beautifully captures the essence of saltwater and the Dharawal people of Coastal Sydney, reflecting Shane's deep connection to the area.

The event promises to be a grand slam, bringing together sportsmanship and cultural unity in a way that only rugby league can.
