Rugby League Ashes 2025: Squads, Fixtures, and Venues

Super League Man of Steel Jake Connor has been left out of Shaun Wane's England squad for the upcoming Rugby League Ashes series against Australia.

According to skysports.com, the Leeds Rhinos player, who claimed the top individual award this year, will not participate, as Wane has chosen Mikey Lewis, Harry Smith, and captain George Williams as his halfback lineup.

Smith and Williams have proven to be a solid partnership for England, delivering excellent performances against Tonga and Samoa recently. Meanwhile, Lewis showcased his talents in the Grand Final, further solidifying Wane's selection choices.

Yet, many believe Connor could have provided a significant advantage for England, particularly since Williams will be inactive for two months by the time the first Test occurs.

Other notable exclusions include Wigan Warriors' Junior Nsemba, Luke Thompson, and Brad O'Neill, as well as Canberra Raiders' Matty Nicholson.

In contrast, AJ Brimson from the Gold Coast Titans is included after successfully changing his international eligibility to play for England this year, based on his mother's English heritage. Brimson scored 12 tries in 23 NRL games in 2025.
