On Sunday, July 13, 2025, the Sydney Roosters faced off against St George Illawarra in a Round 19 clash of the NSW Cup, ultimately losing 28-14.

The Roosters, who were missing key players including starting props Taylor Losalu and De La Salle Va'a, as well as Ethan Roberts due to a knee injury, struggled with field position throughout the match.

Despite these setbacks, the Roosters opened the scoring early with a converted try from hooker Beniah Ioelu.

However, after this initial score, they struggled to maintain momentum and control of the game.

St George Illawarra capitalized on the Roosters' weakened forward pack, which was further diminished by the absence of Xaxier Va'a (concussion) and other late withdrawals.

As a result, Roosters' halves Toby Rodwell and Sandon Smith found it challenging to put pressure on the Dragons' back three, allowing St George Illawarra to secure their 10th victory in 11 games.

The disappointing result highlighted the impact of player absences and field position on the Roosters' performance, ultimately leading to their defeat.
