The Sydney Roosters' NSW Cup team faced a challenging match against the Newtown Jets, suffering a heavy defeat of 54-0 during their Round 12 clash at Gosford.

The team's struggle was primarily attributed to the absence of seven first-choice NRL players, alongside several other experienced NSW Cup athletes.

This resulted in the Roosters fielding a notably youthful lineup, with an average age of just 21.

Among the players, eight were still eligible for the Jersey Flegg Cup, and three had previously participated in the S.G.

Ball Cup this season.

Notably, the match featured debuts for 17-year-old left centre Lui Lee and 18-year-old interchange prop Itula Seve.

While the experience gained by these young athletes is invaluable, the match outcome was disappointing.

The Roosters completed only 67% of their sets and had a mere 45% possession, coupled with 15 errors throughout the game.

This lack of operational efficiency forced the Roosters to make 73 more tackles than their opponents.

On the defensive end, Tyler Moriaty stood out, contributing significantly with 40 tackles during his time on the field, where he played 30 minutes as hooker and 41 minutes at lock.

Despite the loss, this experience will be crucial for the young Roosters as they look to develop and improve in future matches.
