The Sydney Roosters have officially released Brandon Smith after 41 NRL first-grade appearances over the past three seasons.

Smith, a New Zealand international, joined the Roosters at the start of 2023 following six seasons and 107 matches with the Melbourne Storm.

However, he did not meet expectations during his time at the Bondi-based club.

Currently recovering from an ACL injury, Smith has played his final match for the Roosters and has been granted an immediate release from the remainder of his contract.

He is set to join the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The Rabbitohs expressed their enthusiasm in a statement, saying, "The Rabbitohs look forward to Brandon joining the Club this week in preparation for his return to the field in the coming weeks."
