Roosters flying high or grounded by the Raiders?

Pilot Medical Update: Round 26

LeagueNews.co | Robbie Hamilton

The Sydney Roosters Squad faced some tough challenges in their latest NRL match against the Raiders.

In a cruel blow, young gun Sam Walker suffered a left ACL rupture in the 12th minute, reminiscent of a classic ankle tap on a breakaway try.

He will go under the knife this week for reconstructive surgery, hoping to bounce back stronger than ever.

Brandon Smith also found himself on the medical report with a contact right MCL and ACL injury in the heat of battle in the 38th minute.

Like a true warrior, he will be braced up and a decision will be made on whether he needs surgery in the weeks ahead.

It's a tough break for the player known for his hard hits and never-say-die attitude.

Victor Radley's left scapula fracture in the 50th minute added to the Roosters' injury woes, leaving fans feeling like they're in a sudden death playoff.

Opting for non-operative management, Radley will put his trust in the shoulder specialist to get him back on the field as soon as possible.

Nat Butcher wasn't immune to the casualties, being sidelined with a concussion after a Head Injury Assessment in the second half.

Following league protocols, he will have to take the mandatory 11-day stand-down period, leaving a hole in the Roosters' defensive line.

Despite these setbacks, the Roosters can take heart in the fact that no other players were added to the injury list.

It's a reminder of the physical toll the sport can take, but also a testament to the resilience and determination of these athletes.

As they say in the game of Rugby League, it's not about how hard you hit, but how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
