The Sydney Roosters might be preparing for the possible departure of 2025 Ken Irvine Medallist Mark Nawaqanitawase after next season, but they have set their sights on another Wallabies standout. They are set to welcome Daly Cherry-Evans and Reece Robson to their roster for the upcoming season, indicating significant changes ahead as a number of their key players are set to become free agents over the next few years.
Key players such as Angus Crichton, Daniel Tupou, and James Tedesco are among those who won't be under contract for the 2027 season, with several more facing contract expiration in 2028.
As part of their forward-looking strategy, the Roosters are eyeing a potential recruit from the competitive 15-man code. During an appearance on Triple M Breakfast with Beau, Cat and Woodsy, journalist Brent Read noted the growing connection between the Roosters and NSW Waratahs as well as Wallabies athlete Max Jorgensen.
Jorgensen has consistently been linked with a transition to the NRL over the past four years, gaining traction as a prominent rugby union and Wallabies figure likely to switch codes. "There was a bit of a whisper about Max Jorgensen - the Roosters going hard at Max Jorgensen," said Read.
