Queensland Rugby League has announced the initial squad for the 2025 State Challenge, featuring ten players who will represent the Construction Sciences Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League team.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, July 13, at the Whitlam Centre in Liverpool, Sydney.
The players in this extended squad aim to secure a spot in the final eight-player team, which will be finalized closer to the event date.
Importantly, those not included in this initial group are still eligible for selection, as coaches will continue to assess performances in QWRL programs and local competitions over the coming months.
Preparation for the challenge will kick off with a training camp on the Sunshine Coast from May 23 to 25.
Proudly supported by Sunshine Coast Council, this camp will serve as an opportunity for players and staff to start building combinations and team cohesion ahead of the interstate competition.
Head Coach Cameron Sullivan will take the helm of the team, stepping in after Jack Brown's return to England for a consulting role.
He will be supported by Assistant Coach Jeff Wright and Team Manager Jade Brown.
Additionally, a strong performance team including Javery Gonzales, Ryan Charles, Adam Schefe, and Kyle Panebianco has been established to support the players.
The State Challenge represents a significant event on the wheelchair rugby league calendar, providing players the chance to compete at high levels while promoting the growth of the sport throughout Queensland and beyond.
