The Brisbane Tigers and Sunshine Coast Falcons have secured their places in Week 1 of the Hostplus Cup finals after recording dominating wins in Round 22.

The Falcons had a do-or-die match against the Tweed Seagulls on Saturday and came out on top with a clinical 37-12 performance, securing them a top 8 spot.

Sua Fa'alogo was a standout player for the Falcons, scoring a double in the second-half, both of which were converted, and then finishing off with a Ryan Papenhuyzen field-goal.

Fa'alogo has been in excellent form since shifting to the wing for Papenhuyzen, leading the field in run metres with 209 and line-breaks with 3.

He also contributed two try-assists and seven tackle-breaks in the match.

The Tigers followed suit and secured a solid 21-point victory over the Wynnum Manly Seagulls at the inaugural Paul Green Medal Memorial Day.

Forward Alec MacDonald was named the first medallist after an impressive defensive performance.

Other Storm affiliates also made their mark in the game, with Joe Chan, Cole Geyer, and Tristan Powell among the seven try scorers.

Jonah Pezet added 13 points to the scoreboard through conversions, a penalty goal, and a field goal.

Looking ahead, the Brisbane Tigers will kick off their 2023 Finals run on Saturday against the Souths Logan Magpies at Logan Metro Sports Complex.

The Sunshine Coast Falcons will continue their run on Sunday at Kayo Stadium against the Redcliffe Dolphins.

Both teams will be hoping to maintain their winning momentum and progress further in the Hostplus Cup finals.
