Adam Reynolds recently shared how Wayne Bennett played a crucial role not only in his professional life but also in personal matters, particularly in saving his marriage.

Ahead of the upcoming NRL match where Reynolds faces his former coach with the Brisbane Broncos against the Rabbitohs, he recounted his struggles during a tough period in 2020.

In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, Reynolds and his wife Tallara, with whom he has four children, were on the verge of divorce.

He described that time as "really tough" and acknowledged the significant emotional toll it took on his marriage.

However, a private conversation with Bennett proved transformative for Reynolds.

"It was a tough part of my life," he reflected in the Inside Ball podcast, revealing that Bennett's ability to sense his distress was pivotal.

"Wayne saved it (his marriage)," he stated, noting his struggle to set aside personal feelings for the sake of concentrating on his responsibilities.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining focus, whether at home or on the field.

After COVID restrictions lifted, football resumed, providing Reynolds with a much-needed distraction during this challenging period.

Despite not openly expressing his feelings, Bennett noticed something was amiss and took the initiative to check in.

"He grabbed me aside one day and said, 'What's up'." This conversation allowed Reynolds to open up to Bennett, creating a trustworthy environment that fostered guidance and support.

Reflecting on the impact of Bennett's guidance, he said, "If I didn't have that guidance from Wayne, I don't know where I would have been."

Moreover, Bennett was influential in Reynolds' decision to leave South Sydney Rabbitohs and relocate to Brisbane with his family.

Reynolds sold his compact family home in Sydney for $2.265 million and purchased a spacious six-bedroom house in Brisbane, offering his family much more comfort and space.

This new chapter not only marked a professional shift but also aimed to create a better environment for his family amidst his personal challenges.
