The 2026 State of Origin decider achieved a remarkable feat, becoming the most-watched game in the history of the interstate rugby league series.

With an impressive total audience of 4.29 million, measured as the average number of viewers at any given moment, NSW triumphed over Queensland, reclaiming the Origin shield this past Wednesday night.

This latest match surpassed this year's Origin II, which garnered 4.286 million viewers, marking it as the highest-rated event across 45 editions of the three-match series.

The figure of 4.29 million indicates a 9.2 percent increase compared to last year's decisive match.

In total, 6.032 million viewers tuned in at some point during the clash.

In terms of overall viewership, this match became the top-rated TV program of 2026 and was the leading show of the night across Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth.

Additionally, 1.685 million viewers streamed the match, reflecting a significant 70.9 percent growth compared to the same game in 2025.
