Canberra Raiders winger Savelio Tamale is facing a lengthy recovery period following a severe leg injury sustained in a match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
The incident occurred in the 15th minute when Tamale was caught awkwardly under a three-man tackle.
Although initial assessments raised concerns about an ankle or leg injury, Raiders medical staff conducted an ACL test, ruling that possibility out.
It has been determined that Tamale likely suffered a displacement of the knee cap.
Head coach Ricky Stuart addressed the injury in the post-match press conference, stating, "They're saying something along the lines of a displacement of the knee cap so it's not going to be a short turnaround, he could be 2-3 months." The injury comes at a challenging time for the Raiders, who managed to secure an impressive comeback victory over the Rabbitohs despite the setback.
Tamale's prolonged absence will undoubtedly impact the team's performance as they navigate the remainder of the season without him.
