Raiders ponder twist in Papalii's path

The Canberra Raiders are considering a surprising reversal regarding prop Josh Papalii's future.

Currently off-contract until the end of 2025, Papalii was expected to depart the Raiders but has expressed interest in extending his career into 2026.

This interest comes as the Raiders look to focus on developing younger talent, with their forward pack anticipated to be led next season by Joseph Tapine, Corey Horsburgh, and Morgan Smithies.

However, recent developments suggest that Papalii may not be leaving after all.

According to Danny Weidler from Channel 9, Papalii's management has approached Raiders officials to discuss the possibility of a new contract.

While the Raiders have not dismissed the request, they have not yet made any formal offer to Papalii.
