Raiders May Release Young Player Chevy Stewart

LeagueNews.co | Cooper McEnroe

The Canberra Raiders are reportedly contemplating the release of young outside back Chevy Stewart.

According to zerotackle.com, Stewart, a talented fullback who can also operate as a winger, has primarily played in reserve grade throughout his career.

Despite his potential, he has not yet managed to secure a position in the first-grade lineup, particularly with Jed Stuart occupying the wing following Savelio Tamale's injury.

Moreover, Stewart finds himself behind Kaeo Weekes in the selection hierarchy for coach Ricky Stuart's team.

Weekes has recently extended his contract for the second time within a year and is now committed to the Raiders until at least the end of 2029.

He has quickly emerged as one of the top-performing fullbacks in the NRL.
