The Canberra Raiders faced a defeat against the Newcastle Knights, losing 18-0 during the inaugural NRLW Magic Round, despite a tightly contested first half.

Early on, the Raiders took advantage of a penalty, advancing near the line but ultimately fell short of scoring.

Possession fluctuated as both teams exchanged sets, failing to make a breakthrough. The Raiders worked hard defensively, yet multiple penalties granted the Knights advantageous field position; however, the Raiders managed to force an error to regain possession.

As the game continued with end-to-end action, the Knights kicked the ball dead, giving Canberra a 20-metre restart. The Raiders advanced upfield and nearly scored, but a fumble halted their chances.

Neither team was able to score by halftime, despite having opportunities to do so.

In the second half, the Knights struck first just four minutes in, with a line break from Shanice Parker leading to Sheridan Gallagher scoring.

A fumble by the Raiders allowed Tiana Davidson to slip through Canberra's defense from 30 metres out, scoring Newcastle's second try of the match. A successful conversion extended the Knights' lead to 12-nil.
